This past weekend in Long Beach was the 81st annual Sand Sculpture contest, hosted by Rotaract of Long Beach, the city of Long Beach, and its lovely sponsors. It’s the longest running contest of its kind in the West Coast, and quite possibly the US. I decided to share a few photos of the works. The first few photos and the last one were done by sponsored professional artists, while the smaller, less detailed ones were made by community residents who pay money to enter a separate contest. This year, the theme was about literacy, as the proceeds went to the Long Beach Public Library Foundation. If you want more info, please visit: www.lbsandcastle.com
